She was also much thinner, her lower trim was black, which oozed and dripped black ink (which was her true form leaking out). On her face, her scar was much larger and reached up to her "arch", and she did not have Amy's characteristic bangs. Her hair (or rather, spines) were much more similar to Sonic's. In her old design, she looked like a distorted version of Amy. In her old/scrapped reference sheet, her gaze was much more menacing and toothless smile that looked like it was part of her skin, making her disguise less consistent, and her true form leaked into her "boots". In addition to all this, she has black spots all over her body, which is actually her true form leaking through her disguise. In addition to her "clothes" being in a darker red, her shoes do not have vertical white stripes, and she now has long sleeves on her "clothes". Her fur is a little more faded/darker, her skin has a slightly stronger tone, and her eyes now lack a green iris and a sicatris in his right eye. Really shows you that great things are possible with this engine.In her AMY form, she is very similar to Amy Rose, but with some differences. I think this is at its best in the final shot of the trailer where you can see all the industrial lights within the Biolizard shrine and how the brickwork of the area is reacting to the light being cast. The environment design is of course as strong as it was in SA2, and the use of lighting and raytracing really makes everything that much pretty. Sonic Forces had a weird mishmash of elements from Generations and Lost World with some oversimplified original stuff thrown in, Frontiers was reused stuff with the open zones being too realistic to be exciting in most instances, but this is the best showcase for HE2 that we've seen so far. On another note, despite my ire at the usual bad omens rearing their headand the Generations remaster looking like an absolute nothingburger, I just can't get over how beautiful the Shadow stuff looks in terms of art design, particularly the stuff on the Ark. I'm probably being overly generous here and expect we'll probably get 6 levels with 2 bosses, but with how little we've been shown, it's difficult to say at this point. I think the following would be a good lineup:Īnd then some variation of Final Doom as the final boss. from GTA: San Andreas at this point - "Aw, shit - here we go again.!"Īny predictions on the levels we'll be getting? The trailer only shows Final Chase and what appears to be Radical Highway (but is honestly looking more like Westopolis), so I could see us getting one or two levels from each landmark Shadow appearance. So having him dragged back into reliving his own past a third time seems more than a little comical to me! When Doom's Eye shows up, I'm now imagining him reacting like the memes of C.J. He's already done that in what are probably his two most iconic starring roles - Sonic Adventure 2 and Shadow the Hedgehog - and at the end of the latter he resolves to stop looking back and move forward with his life. Side note: While the prospect of a short Shadow game is interesting, I find it hilarious the direction they're going with it seems to be "Shadow, remember your PAAAAASST.!". I already own Generations on Xbox 360 anyway, so if the new port isn't worth it I can always dig that out and rig it back up if I really have a hankering to revisit it. If it ends up totally borked or the new content isn't worth the price of admission then I'll likely hold off. If the port looks and runs well on my chosen platform - Switch - then I'll be interested. However, recent releases have led me to be a bit more cautious about picking up Sonic games at launch than I have been in past, so I think I'll be waiting until this one's out before deciding whether or not to pick it up. I'm interested in the prospect of a decent port of Generations to modern consoles, along with a small bonus Shadow campaign.
